With the growing popularity of silverfish fishing on both natural venues and commercial fisheries throughout the winter months, we created four new groundbaits specifically designed for targeting silverfish.
Developed alongside some of the UK’s leading silverfish anglers, including Des Shipp, Lee Kerry, Steve Saunders, Mick Vials, Michael Buchwalder and Will Freeman, the range has been carefully designed to give anglers complete control over their groundbait mix.

After reviewing the market, we developed four versatile mixes that can be used straight from the bag or blended together to create a customised groundbait suited to specific venues, conditions and fishing methods. The ability to combine the mixes was a key requirement from our consultants, as natural venues are constantly changing and anglers need the flexibility to adapt their groundbait accordingly.
By adjusting the ratios of each mix, you can create the perfect blend for any situation:
- So Natural River – A heavier mix with stronger binding properties, ideal for deeper water, faster flows and slower breakdown.
- So Natural Black – Add more to create a darker mix with reduced feed content, perfect for a more subtle approach.
- So Natural Lake – Increase the quantity for a lighter, more active mix with increased attraction.
- So Natural Bream – Add more for a sweeter mix with a higher food content, ideal when targeting bigger fish.
The combinations are almost endless, allowing you to fine-tune your groundbait to match the conditions on the day.
So Natural River
So Natural River is a heavy groundbait with excellent binding properties, making it ideal for feeder fishing or balling in on rivers. Its dense composition ensures it reaches the bottom quickly before gradually breaking down.
This slow-acting, low-activity mix is perfect for carrying additional baits such as chopped worm and casters to the bottom, or for adding weight and extra binding qualities to other groundbaits when fishing deeper water or stronger flows.

Used on its own, So Natural River creates a very heavy groundbait that binds exceptionally well, making it easy to ball in and capable of carrying plenty of chopped worm. One of Mick’s favourite feeder skimmer combinations is:
- 1/3 So Natural River
- 1/3 So Natural Bream
- 1/3 Soil
This creates a heavy, dark mix with plenty of feed that is perfect for targeting skimmers.
Mixing Instructions:
- Empty the 1kg bag of groundbait into a round mixing bucket
- Fill a 1-pint maggot tub with water and add it to the dry groundbait
- Mix thoroughly to ensure the water is evenly distributed
- Leave to rest for 30 minutes, allowing the groundbait to fully absorb the water
- Pass through a riddle to remove any lumps and create an even consistency
The groundbait is then ready to use.
During fishing sessions, sun and wind can cause the mix to dry slightly. To prevent this, cover the mixed groundbait with a damp towel. If the mix does dry out, simply add a small amount of water and remix until the desired consistency is restored.
